Due to the nature of manufacturing today needing to be flexible, collaborative robots (aka co-bots) have now allowed integrators the ability to move robots out of the robot cell and into the production line. However, many manufacturing plants do not have the expertise to design their new productions lines to accommodate co-bots. The factory lines of the future must incorporate co-bots into their design to stay competitive in this global market or they will be left behind.

The takeaway with this discussion is the fact that design and manufacturing engineers need to look at robots being taken out of the traditional "robot cell" and placed on the production line just like any other worker.
